This is one of our favorite mushrooms to grow and enjoy. Lion’s mane is one of the most unique and easily identifiable mushrooms we grow.  This tooth fungus is a native to North America, Europe, and Asia. 

  • Flavor and Texture: With a sweet and savory texture similar to crab or Lobster, this Mushroom can be added to almost any recipe as a meat substitute. 

  • Health Benefits:  Lion’s Mane has gotten a ton of national attention lately for its powerful cerebral and nervous system support. This superfood contains bioactive compounds that have beneficial effects on the brain, heart, and gut. Studies have shown that the two special compounds Hericenones and Erinacines that Lion’s Mane provides stimulates brain cell growth.  There also have been many studies that show promising results in using this powerful mushroom to help combat the effects of Alzheimer’s, dementia, nervous system injuries, and Anxiety. Lion’s Mane extract has also shown to reduce the spread of cancer to the lungs of mice by 69%. Published human testing is limited and more research needs to be done.

Important Note: To fully take advantage of beneficial nutrients it is important to alway cook mushrooms to at least 140 degrees fahrenheit.  This also deactivates any heat sensitive toxins.
