Shiitake mushrooms feature a tan to dark brown cap and love growing on decaying hardwood trees. This  mushroom thrives in a wide range of climates, making it a great addition to any menu!

  • Flavor and Texture Profile: Shiitakes are known for their meaty texture with strong earth tones. It is recommended you always remove the tough stem.

  • Health Benefits: Shiitake mushrooms are low in calories but offer good amounts of fiber, B vitamins, and copper. Shiitakes have also been studied to have immune boosting, cholesterol - lowering, and cancer fighting effects.

Important Note: To fully take advantage of beneficial nutrients it is important to alway cook mushrooms to at least 140 degrees fahrenheit.  This also deactivates any heat sensitive toxins.
